Here’s a riddle for you. What color is the perfect pick to transition from summer to fall and all the way to winter? If you somehow guessed periwinkle, winner winner!
Being a part time writer and full time teacher, I’ve always loved knowing about words and where they came from. It’s nerdy to the max, but I’m okay with that. When you have a word that’s as fun to say as periwinkle, I have to know more! For those out there wondering, periwinkle actually stems from a Greek word that means shellfish. When I think about the beautiful colors you find inside an oyster shell, this absolutely makes sense!
I think this color is perfect for all seasons because of its muted hue, but it’s all about the fabric. The lace detailing on this off-the-shoulder top from BP just works. For a more summery event, I wore this beauty with skinny white jeans from J Brand and my favorite gold Jack Rogers. But now that it’s just starting to feel more and more like fall, I decided to play around and pair the top with my darkest blue skinny jeans from LOFT. Keeping the accessories dark, like my Tory Burch clutch and Steve Madden heels, also reins in that Fall feeling.
To push it one notch further for winter (whenever that gets to Florida), I can’t wait to wear it out with these black riding boots from Sam Edelman. Wearing a jacket with OTS anything can be a little tricky. By pushing up the sleeves, I can definietly make this blazer from J. Crew work in a pinch. Even though I am mostly a summertime gal, I just can’t wait for the colder seasons to experiment with my summer looks to make them fall appropriate.
Love from Florida,
