If this first Sunday is any indication on how the rest of 2018 will go, then it’s going to be one for the books! One where I’m well fed and get to meet a lot of new people. I want to give a very special thanks to all at MidiCi of Tyrone Square for a delicious luncheon. Can you believe this was my first ever influence event? I’m so happy to even have received an invitation and hope there will be many more in my future.
For those of you who’ve never heard of MidiCi, let me introduce you! This California based restaurant combines positivity and high quality ingredients to create a fun dining experience, highlighting authentic Neapolitan style pizza, their speciality. Currently, they have 24 locations open all over the country, with 30 more in the works and an eye to be in the triple digits within the next few years.
The meal began with my personal favorite, a cheese board and a glass of Pinot Noir. As soon as the plate touched down, I knew I was in for a treat. Black truffle, fresh mozzarella, creamy chevre, and parmigiano-reggiano cheeses were accompanied by basalmic drizzled toast and honey. I may have gone a little crazy on this course, but I regret nothing!
I can’t write about the salad course because I was too busy chit-chatting, exploring, and sampling the cocktails. This is about the time David ducked behind the counter to watch them make pizza up close and personal, but we’ll get to that in a bit. My sips were the Basil Fizz for me and an Italian Sour for David. Both were delicious and the perfect pairing for our meal. Their entire cocktail list look very tantalizing and have some of the best prices I’ve seen in the Tampa Bay area.
Next, on to the main event, Neapolitan style pizza. Originally invented over 300 years ago, the city of Naples in Italy is credited with being the birth place of one of the world’s most beloved meals. MidiCi has put their own spin on that tradition starting with a four ingredient dough that is baked to perfection in just 90 seconds. This is thanks to their wood-fired ovens that burn at a toasty 1,000 degrees. The sauce is made from Italian peeled tomatoes. Yep, that’s it! What they lack in number of ingredients doesn’t compromise the bold flavors you get with each bite. Because we had their best selling Margherita, our pizza was finished with fresh mozzarella, sprigs of basil, and a helping of extra virgin olive oil. Have I made you hungry yet?
Finally, no Italian meal would be complete without coffee and dessert. We rounded out our meal with their signature Nutella Calzone. Yes, that’s a thing and yes it tastes like heaven. This gooey creation is stuffed with Nutella and berries and it took everything in me not to lick the plate. If that wasn’t enough, we got to sample three of their gelato flavors. Each was refreshing and oh-so good. To cleanse my palate, I enjoyed a fresh almond latte that was the perfect way to wash everything down. With that, my meal was sadly over.
As someone who takes food very seriously, I could not have asked for a better time. In addition to my meal being exceptional, everyone I talked to working there was all so friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to Omar for everything, he was a pro at serving a whole room of influencers taking pictures of everything! If you are in St. Petersburg and craving some pizza and Italian fare, I cannot recommend MidiCi enough. David and I cannot wait to go back and try the rest of their menu and cocktails. Pesto della Casa pizza, I’m talking to you. Here’s to living and eating in la Dolce Vita.
Love from Florida,
