Have you ever found yourself asking if you were born in the wrong decade? Does the style from another era seem more meaningful? I think about this all the time. For so many of my styles, I pull inspiration from the yesteryears. Although I’m partial to the 50’s, I’m always open to other decades.
This outfit makes me think of the 70’s for sure. Obviously, I wasn’t around back then, but I’ve seen albums of pictures of my mom when she was younger and I’ve seen plenty episodes of the Brady Bunch. Couldn’t you so see Jan or Marcia wearing this front button, corduroy mini skirt? This little gal from LOFT is perfect for fall. I know I call it a mini skirt, but it’s a lot more forgiving and could actually be pretty work friendly. The color is almost an exact match to the changing of the fall leaves.
Speaking of color, its this rich marigold that has me in a time loop. I can vividly see this chair my grandma used to sit in while she talked on the phone. On this chair sat a little corduroy pillow that I’m pretty sure was the exact same fabric as the skirt. What’s even crazier is that it makes me love the skirt that much more!
To bring this outfit back to the 21st century, I styled it with some pieces that will always be in style. A white button-down from J. Crew, camel pumps from Target, and a black clutch from Tory Burch are all options I can use again and again for decades to come.
