I am simply not made for cold weather. Any dip below 50 degrees and I feel frozen solid. Enter this infamous “Bomb Cyclone” and my little Sunshine City got dangerously close to snow for the first time in 100 years. Some parts of Florida, like my alma mater city of Tallahassee, actually got a snow fall for real. I almost entertained making the 4 hour drive to see. It’s not everyday the Sunshine State gets snow!
Because of the nearly 80% humidity, our 40 degree weather seemed like 30 and chilled you to the bone. Even though my pictures look sunny and bright, the wind was brutal and I couldn’t feel my fingers and toes for almost an hour afterwards. I know, I’m a wimp and some of you are rolling your eyes at me because of what you had to deal with. You have to understand, we don’t get any sort of cold weather very often and most Floridians just aren’t ready for it. But on the other had, my (soon to be) in-laws in Vermont had to battle -20 degree snow storms. At one point, we were nearly 70 degrees warmer then them!
Complaining about the weather aside, I enjoyed being able to dress like it’s actually ‘winter’ for once. This oversized blouse from BP is classic with some updates. For one, I just love the swing shape. I’m still trying to get rid of the results form ‘holiday eating’ and this top is very forgiving. Another detail I love about this blouse is the bow details on the sleeve. It adds just the right amount of romantic touches to an otherwise staple piece. One more perk of winter in St. Pete is I get to pull out my Jack Roger Sadie boots. They are the perfect neutral footwear and are a pair I could walk in for hours.
What are your go to pieces when you know you ate a little too much? Self-indulgence is fine every once in a while, but I don’t want to show it. I’m talking about over-sized pieces and stretchy waist bands. Comment below.
Love from Florida,
